SIMPLICITY

This book discusses the precepts and lifestyle of
fully ordained nuns within the Buddhist tradition. The ordination vows act
as guidelines to promote harmony both within the individual and within the
community by regulating and thereby simplifying one's relationships to
other sangha members and laypeople, as well as to the needs of daily life.
印度菩提伽耶大覺寺內
一九九三年三月，在印度達蘭薩拉(Dharmsala)舉辦的「西方佛教傳教師會議」上，顛津帕莫(Tenzin Palmo)及突敦丘準( Thubten Chodron)二位比丘尼受到達賴喇嘛及其它歐美尼眾的鼓勵，決定發起籌備「西方尼僧生活營」(Life as a Western Buddhist Nun)，使西方尼眾有受教育及互相交流的機會。
一九九六年二月三日至二十五日，「西方尼僧生活營」在印度菩提伽耶大覺寺舉行。來自十七個國家，八十多位尼眾齊聚，在佛陀成道的菩提樹下研習戒律，由香光尼僧團方丈悟因法師於二月十日至二十五日講授四分比丘尼戒。悟因法師中文講授，見諦法師英文口譯。
悟因法師教授佛陀制戒的精神與原則，邀約與會尼眾們與自己的出家本願、修學生活與文化背景進行對話，令與會者深受感動。籌辦活動的丘準法師乃決定將講授內容編輯成書，讓更多的人受用。由見諦法師英文筆譯，2001年1月由紐約雪獅出版社(Snow Lion Publications)出版。書名：《CHOOSING SIMPLICITY—A Commentary on the Bhikshuni Pratimoksha》
本書目前僅有英文版，尚無中文版。但有中、英雙語錄音帶「Teaching of the Bhiksuni Pratimoksa of Dharmaguptaka」，由台北伽耶山基金會(02-23641213)發行。
